aaryan sharif

i’m aaryan. nice to meet you!

i’m a third year materials student and researcher at imperial. i’ve learnt a lot about how i learn, and i’d like to learn more about learning!

my research presently focuses on the mechanistic interpretability of MLIPs. lots to learn about science from something that’s never seen it before! for example, figuring out pesky substances that are hard to demarcate.

i like LLMs too! previously, i’ve contracted w/ anthropic. i learned a lot about swarms and harnesses. my idea’s that we have a responsibility as purveyors of artificially (soon generally?) intelligent systems to ensure their safety.

in a UROP i did, in collaboration with meta fairchem, i investigated the application of UMA in nuclear contexts. another sort of ai safety lol.

i’m also a big fan of solid-state and quantum physics. i’m working with prof. mark oxborrow on trying to keep room temperature masers cool.

i also train rings and calisthenics. i teach classes at imperial’s calisoc.

some other things i like:

  • making paper flowers
  • the feeling of being stuck on a challenging problem
  • writing my working out by hand
  • monkeytype

reach out to me! aaryansharif06 [at] gmail [dot] com
